NKJVMATTHEW 25
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins1“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.6“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go...

“God loves you very much,” he said; “don’t be afraid! Calm yourself; be strong – yes, strong!” Daniel 10:19
“Calm yourself.” Be pro-active. Speak the will of God to yourself! “The word of God is nigh thee, even in your mouth.” Romans 10:8-10, Deuteronomy 30:14. Speak to yourself. Speak over yourself. Bless yourself with “thus saith the Lord.” God loves me very much. God is for me. God is with me. I am not afraid. I cannot fail, God is my source.

The Power of Bold Faith
1Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. 2This testimony of faith is what previous generations were commended for. 3Faith empowers us to see that the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God’s words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.
4Faith moved Abel to choose a more acceptable sacrifice to offer God than his brother Cain, and God declared him righteous because of his offering of faith. By his faith, Abel still speaks instruction to us today, even though he is long dead....
5Faith translated Enoch from this life and he was taken up into heaven! He never had to experience death; he just disappeared from this world because God promoted him. For before he was translated to the heavenly realm his life had become a plea

“…the one who truly loves a fellow believer lives in the light, and there is nothing in Him that will cause someone else to stumble. But whoever hates a fellow believer lives in the darkness – stumbling around in the dark with no clue where he is going, for he is blinded by the darkness.” I John 2:10-11
“God so loved…that He gave His only begoken Son.” John 3:16 The selfless act of God’s love to reach you required Him to be separated from His Son. It required Jesus to be separated from His Father, endure the agony of a humiliating death and the ultimate shame of going to hell…in your place. He was without sin; but became your sin. Your love for Jesus and knowing what He demonstrated for you gives you the picture-perfect example of love.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor, no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in You.” Psalm 84:11-12
“The Lord God is a sun and shield." The Psalmist discovered that God would light his way no maker what situations came his way. God would give him warmth and comfort just like the sun does. God also provided rest, refreshing and restoration as his shield of protection.

“The Lord said to me, ‘I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born, I sanctified you and appointed you as My spokesman to the world." Jeremiah 1:4
God didn’t spare Jeremiah from imprisonment, deportation or insults. Jeremiah prophesied to Israel for 40 years and never saw people heed his words and turn from their sins. He lived in a time of political, moral and spiritual decline…and yet the people didn’t turn towards God when He shared what God told him to tell them.
We discovered aspects of Samuel's life to glean for our own in the past two devotionals. His faith captured God's attention. Let's peek into Samuel's life as he anointed two kings. I Samuel 8-15
Samuel was the last judge that Israel had ending a 200 year season of judges ruling God's people.
"Samuel appointed his two sons as leaders but they did not follow in his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice." 8:3
"The elders of the people came to Samuel and said, 'You're old and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.'" 8:5
The people demanded a king. God said to Samuel they are not rejecting you, but Me. Give them a king but let them know the consequences of their actions. So he did. It wasn't good but they wanted to have a king anyway.
