1 Corinthians 14: 15   Pray in the understanding as well as the spirit

John 15: 7   Abide in Jesus - Ask what you will - Abiding (living, dwelling) in Jesus, in His Word in the condition to asking what you will. Why? Knowing His will, you'll ask in agreement with him

1 John 5: 14 Ask according to God's will. His will is in His word.

Matthew 21: 21-2 Ask in faith. Believe you have received when you pray. Definition of faith : Believing in the words of another = TRUST God kind of faith: Believing or trusting God's word to us.

Mark 11: 22 -26 When you pray, believe you have received. When you pray, forgive.

Luke 18: 1-8   When you pray, be persistent, don't loose heart..

James 5: 16   When you pray, be fervent and passionate

1 Peter 5: 7 Pray because God cares for you. Cast all your concerns, your cares upon Him.

Standing on His Promises

A promise is a declaration that something will or will not be done, given, etc. by one. An express assurance on which expectation is to be based upon. (Webster Dictionary)

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through Him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God." (II Corinthians 1:20)

There are so many promises written in the Bible for us. The Holy Spirit also quickens us with with promises the Lord makes to us, His kids, in our personal lives.

We can stand secure on His promises, no matter what storms arise or disappointments take place.

Circumstances that seem contrary to what God has spoken are necessary. They test our trust and faith in God. Will we believe? Will we line up with God, agree with Him and say "AMEN," so be it?

Free to be Free 

Reading the book of James, a few verses caught my eye regarding our love walk in Christ. I heard an admonition in my spirit for this devotional. 

The message was simple:

"Let go of grudges and hurts. Don't carry them over another day. 
It is destructive to your health and well-being."

As I pondered those things, examining my heart and reading James, the first verse in chapter two stood out.

"My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism."

The text gives the example of catering to those who are rich and shunning those who aren't.

James goes on to say in verses 8-10:

"If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, 'Love your neighbor as yourself' you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. 

For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking it all."

It's favoritism when we say we love some but harbor grudges or hang on

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Joel 2: 28-29    God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh.

Isaiah 28: 11-12    God will speak to His People through this method. It will be a rest and a refreshing.

Acts 1: 4   Jesus commanded them to receive this gift. It's a promise from the Father.

Mark 16: 17   Its for all who believe.

Acts 2: 4    They were all filled. All spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them the words.

Acts 10: 44-46   Gentiles also received. They heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

1 Corinthians 14: 21 & 32   Refers back to Isaiah 28. We choose when to speak in tongues.

Acts 1: 8 This experience gives us power to witness.

1 Corinthians 14: 2 & 4a    We Speak to God in our new (prayer) language. We speak mysteries (wisdom kept hidden for us). We edified, built up, as we speak tongues.

Jude 20    Praying in tongues builds our faith.

Matthew 3: 11     Jesus is the Baptizer.
