Jesus knows all about that Hamster Wheel we put ourselves on. 
We say things like" If I just work harder, I'll be more successful" "If I just loose a few more pounds, people will like me” "If i just, if I just" then off we busying ourselves with our conclusions. 
Often I feel I could be dubbed queen of the Hamster Wheel. I sure know how to "get busy" with things.  I often felt like Martha - wanted Jesus to take note of  hat I am doing, wondering why everyone else seemed to get what I wanted without doing what I believed was expected of them?

Overcoming Unhealthy Habits


 Hear and obey Jesus today. REST.


 
"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience."
Hebrews 4:9-11
 
The entire chapter of Hebrews 4 is about rest. REST is vital! Since I can remember,  there has been this view point that rest equals unproductive laziness. It was enforced during school through academics and sports, into college and then my working career.
 
It became amplified in my life personally when I entered full time ministry. There was a drive to "show your worth" and justify your income by going above and  beyond. The result was my marriage suffered, my children suffered, my walk with Jesus suffered and I lost who I was, spirit, soul and body. It was a nasty, unhealthy habit that has...

John 8:45"I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me."
 
Jesus was speaking to the religious folk of the day who where challenging Him for the umpteenth time. He was calling them out on their unbelief.
 
There is a journey one takes towards unbelief - it is preceded by doubt which is preceded by expectation.
 
Expectation is seeing from our perspective.
a. "I expect the hotel room to look as nice as the picture."
b. "I expect to receive the promotion due to my recent performance,"
c. "I expect to be looked after because I am a victim of circumstance."
 
Expectation is preached from pulpits, in motivational books and seminars and has been paraded as the key to positive thinking. As I researched the various dictionary meanings for expectation I realized this imposter is trying to disguise itself as FAITH.
