Power of One
"For, if, by the trespass of the one man,
death reigned through that one man,
how much more will those who receive
God's abundant provision of grace and
of the gift of righteousness reign in life
through the one man, Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:17
Life has a way of throwing curve balls. One minute it seems "all is well" and the next like "all hell broke loose." Ever noticed that?
When things are going well we have the tendency to have a song in our hearts and a whistle on our lips. BUT, when things go sideways and upside down, oh my. That's often a different story. Gone is the song AND the whistle.
In our text notice the Power of One.
Through ONE man, Adam, death reigned. We were sold out to being born with a sin nature.
Through ONE man, Jesus Christ, that debt was paid on our behalf. When we accepted His gift, invited Him into our lives to be our Lord and Savior...that changed everything.
Now, through the ONE man, Jesus Christ we receive some powerful gifts to see us through each and every day.
Abundant Provision of Grace ( God's favor upon us)
The Gift of Righteousness (Right standing with God)
With those two gifts we can REIGN in LIFE through the ONE man who paid the price for us to live free of judgement, sin, trespasses and condemnation. (vs 16)Living our lives through our relationship with Jesus gives us the POWER to look at life and all it brings through a new lens.
"I have told you these things, so that in Me
you may have peace. In this world you
will have trouble. But take heart! I have
overcome the world." John 16:33
Since the Greater ONE lives in us, we have no need to fear the difficult times that come. Yes, we may cry, grieve, feel the pain of the moment in times of crisis and trauma BUT we can be assured that Jesus Christ has not left or forsaken us. Hebrews 13:5
When we have God's name, are born into His family, He is with us. That's His name: Emmanuel. Which means: God with us!
Leave means: physically gone.
Forsake means: emotionally disconnected.
Jesus Christ never leaves you physically as He is IN YOU through the new birth.
He never forsakes you emotionally as He is touched by the feelings of your infirmities.(Hebrews 4:15) He identifies with your joys and your sorrows sharing them with you. He even sent the Holy Spirit, to walk alongside you. (John 16:7)
How awesome it is to know with Christ in us, we have the POWER of ONE, Jesus Himself, to lead the way as we reign in this life, doing exploits in His name, advancing His kingdom.
