Faith & Maybe

Faith & Maybe?

Does that even count? Let's take a look at this powerful posture of strong faith. When we give up our need for certainty we gain true confidence independent of circumstances.

When we sense God speaking to us about something there's an area of, "Oh, Lord, I don't know." We feel the responsibility before we have the supply.

This is where "works" jumps in, in response to the initial faith spark. Anyone can have an idea but until you put works into motion you'll never know the supply.

Once the initial faith sparks we add dry grass and small sticks to ignite the faith into a flame. We begin blowing softly on the flame til it bursts into fire. We then continue adding fuel until it becomes a bonfire, a force to be reckoned with.

Reading Hebrews 11 and 12 and other passages of faith in action we discover that they didn't have all the answers before forging ahead. As James says, "Show me your faith by your works as faith without corresponding actions is not "faith." It's dead in the water." (my paraphrase) You'll notice in your faith journey that the enemy always attacks in the hallway of going from here to there.

He attempts to sabotage you from moving forward. His goal is to keep you stuck in the valley of fear, paralyzed to take action.

He whispers things like, "Well, did God really say?" "Maybe you should put out a fleece or wait until the supply appears first before going headlong into this." "If this doesn't work out you're going to really embarrass yourself or worse yet, look really stupid." "People will laugh at you building that ark, rain...are you kidding? What is that anyway."

When Jonathon was taking action on his plan to defeat the enemy in I Samuel 14 he passed through a passage with Bozes on one side and Senah on the other. It's interesting that Bozes means "slippery" and Senah means "thorny."

That place in-between the idea and the victory is very slippery and thorny.

It seems that you slip and slide, not gaining traction at times...but keep going,
Apply yourself. Learn everything you need for that "new thing" to materialize. You are gaining skills and much needed faith muscles and spiritual character development to prepare you to walk in that new level.

And the way forward will be prickly...but keep going. Opportunities will abound to be offended, get your feelings hurt through the words, actions, unbelief, etc. of others. You'll invest time and money and maybe even lose things or friends in the process as you're shedding the old you and becoming the new you capable of possessing the new thing.

God reveals truth and wisdom as you move toward the prize.

If you're stuck in fear, you're immobile...your faith is not faith. It's wishful thinking.

Faith is the willingness to move on a maybe. When I do this it might lead me to what I'm supposed to do..at the very least...I'm moving ahead, not stuck in fear.

GOD IS IN THAT PROCESS OF MOVEMENT.

Whether you sense Him or not..He is there like a parent who watches their child from a distance as they take on a new task, like riding a bike or learning math.

SO, today, what's that "new thing" for you? What are the steps you must take now to begin forward motion? What fear messages do you need to rebuke and say, "Get behind me satan, for you do not have my best interests in mind, nor God's."

Without faith accompanied by works it's impossible to please God. He is a rewarder of those who through faith and patience follow Him. "My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!

For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things. And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking."

Well said brother James. (1:2-4 The Passion Translation)

Make the devil sweat wondering why you're not bothered or moved due to his loser tactics. Here's how: Enjoy the journey. Smell the roses. Do a little dance. Give a shout, too!
