Whatever our circumstances we're to trust Jesus completely. He is God.
Jesus said, "Daughter, you took a risk trusting Me, and now you're healed and whole. Live well, live blessed!" (Luke 8:48 The Message)
The daughter Jesus was referring to had already suffered 12 long years, spent all she had on doctors and was alone in the world. She had no family, no husband, nothing to lose, but everything to gain as she risked her last ounce of self-worth and pressed through the thronging crowd to touch the hem of HIS garment.
Jairus, the president of the meeting place, also fell at His feet begging Him to come to his home and heal his 12 year old daughter who was dying.
Both were "daughters." One was 12 years old. The other one had lived many years, the past 12 in pain and suffering. Both were dying.
One had suffered at the hands of many with no one to cry out on her behalf but herself. The other was beloved by her father, family and community and yet unable to get to Jesus herself for her miracle.
Twelve years earlier, one daughter was born; another began a long journey of pain and suffering.
Both are now at the feet of Jesus in need of His healing touch.
We read these few verses and go right on to the next chapter. Yet, contained in this account is a vivid portrayal of a divine orchestration of two daughters in crisis needing a miracle that only Jesus could provide.
As Jesus talked with the older "daughter" telling her that the risk she had taken to trust Him resulted in her miracle, the father of the young girl was being told, by his servants, it was too late for his daughter's need to be met.
Jesus was holding one conversation while, at the same time, overhearing the negative report others were bringing concerning the dying girl. His immediate response to her father was, "Don't be upset. Just trust Me and everything will be all right."
I am reminded of the parable of the workers in the vineyard. Those hired in the morning were upset with those hired at the end of the day. Why? Because those who worked only one hour received the same provision as those who had suffered all day laboring in the hot sun. Jesus said, "Are you upset because I am generous with what's Mine to give?"
Then it says, what I call "the great reversal", "the last shall be first and the first shall be last. (Matthew 20)
We, with our human reasoning and experiencing our own crisis personally, often feel like things aren't fair. One person just calls out and gets their answer, while we go on day after day, year after year sometimes suffering and wondering will the answer ever come.
In the story of the two "daughters", Jesus was personally, actively involved in both events. His response to each was the key...trust Him. We don't understand all that God is doing.
In my Holy Ghost imagination, I pictured the excitement of the crowd as the older woman's healing was dramatic and held the attention of the masses. I imagine the father of the girl was touched and inspired by her miracle as he was doing his very best to wait patiently impatiently for Jesus to come with him to touch his little girl.
It doesn't say, but imagining the scene, I wonder if the father of the girl "adopted" the older woman, bringing her into his family since she had none.
Could it be, in God's timing and orchestration of these two "daughters," that He was working out a "bigger picture" miracle of provision for the woman who had lost everything and suffered twelve long years. Well, it's something fun to ponder.
I've actually experienced this kind of Godly timing and intervention in my own life. Have you?
Regardless, the message is loud and clear to all of us whether our crisis is recent or we have had to endure long. Whatever our circumstances we're to trust Jesus completely. He is God. He knows where we live and every facet of our lives is factored into the plans He is working out on our behalf for His glory. TRUST HIM!
May we all rise up and advance God's kingdom ignited and united as ONE to go out and give 'em heaven!Action Challenges for YOU this week:
Write out a time where you had "to wait" for your break-through and the wisdom you now see of God's timing of your break-through.
Share this insight with a friend or family member.
Encourage them to share an experience they've had.
Each time we share, "Look what the Lord has done." we receive courage and faith for the trials that still lie ahead.
Write out a time when you received an "instant" miracle. Recall the joy and the awe of God that accompanied that experience.
Share this with someone and have them share their story.
Keep these testimonies in your Bible.
They are great memorials to inspire faith for the days ahead.
