Overcoming the Hamster-wheel Syndrome - with Chad Smanjak
Don’t get caught on the hamster wheel. A better future is in front of you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
It’s just another Monday until you realize that this moment has never happened, will never happen again, and anything is possible.

So often we get stuck on the hamster wheel, doing the same thing every day, yet we are believing for a different reality or outcome. Rather than getting caught up in the hamster wheel syndrome, learn to lean into the mystery of the moment, connecting the lessons of your past to the potential of your future. Embrace the joy of breath and life and opportunity. God is with us, expanding your chest as you live and breathe.
God is inviting you to write your next page today, co-creating on the canvas of his reality, not yours but rather His perfect reality that He has for you. Play your part and appreciate your purpose. How we show up and engage today will create your tomorrow, which will create the next week of your life... and so on. Today is not just another day — there’s not a minute or an hour without significance.
Today is THE day to become more of the authentic spirit filled YOU and to make choices that will help welcome a better future that is not just a repetition of yesterday.
Making these decisions can be challenging. We don’t even realize sometimes that we stuck because of the suffering or the fear that has become comfortable and gives us a sense of belonging and purpose for our lives. As crazy as this may sound, its often true. We find purpose in our misery.
“My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. Psalm 119:50 “
The power is in God’s promise for tomorrow which helps us persevere through pain today. Whatever you’re going through, it will end. One way or another, it will end. Even if its ends with the conclusion of your human life, it will end. And this life is not the
end. We can know and have confidence that this human struggle is not the final chapter of the story.It’s important to find something that’s true, a promise that you can hold on to, and adapt a longer-term perspective of the promise. This makes me think of Og Mandino famous words: “This, too shall pass.” God has a way of turning troubles into triumphs. One day, that will be true for you, too.
Fear is the glue that keeps us stuck.
That reminds me of my own life. Sometimes I want to be saved from something, but God is showing me a way to shimmy myself away and onto to new heights.

Transitions create new standards, new systems, and new normals.
It starts when you change your mindset to turning your SHOULDS into MUSTS.
Take the opportunity to consider designing “new normals” for your life. Here are some questions that may resonate with you when you find yourself in a transition or stuck on the hamster wheel:
What’s not working?
What is working well?
How could we make this a better experience for everyone?
What no longer serves us?
How might we create new normals that promote spiritual growth, connection, peace and happiness?
It’s difficult to move on from the NORMAL when it’s the place with which you’re familiar. It feels safe. It’s easy to count the cost of what you’re losing when you can’t yet quantify what you will gain. It’s called faith... and new beginnings.
