Cling to Hope
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16
I must confess that over the last few weeks I feel like I have been in the boxing ring of life and knocked down hard, with the overwhelming feeling of defeat. I have experienced it spiritually, mentally and physically. I have arrived where the deepest hurts and wounds – those that seem to define me for my entire life - is being brought to the place where Dr. Jesus can do what is needed. It's raw, exposed and it hurts – overwhelmingly so.
I confess too, that I am believing that this “down for the count” experience will lead to a radical life changing victory. Defeat is part of life. I was thinking about the story of the woman with the issue of blood who touched the hem of Jesus' garment and was healed.
43 "Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, 'Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.'" - Luke 8:43-48 (NKJV)
Imagine how defeated, despondent and sick and tired of being sick and tired she must have felt as doctors could no longer help her. Imagine the effect this had on her spirit, soul and body. Imagine how her family and community dealt with her.
THEN JESUS CAME TO TOWN bringing HOPE with Him. She saw Him heal others - completely: forgive sins, set people free from ailments, sicknesses and diseases. She finally felt she had met HOPE face to face.
The only truth I can share today is cling to HOPE.
HOPE to help you endure.
HOPE to motivate you to get up.
HOPE to stand as you finally celebrate that win.Liëtte Lee Smith
