Many people get all excited upon hearing a good message or
when God speaks to them.
From Unstoppable - Unlocking your fullest potential...
“Other seeds fell onto gravel with no topsoil and the seeds
quickly sprouted since the soil had no depth. But when the
days grew hot, the sprouts were scorched and withered
because they had insufficient roots.” Mark 4:5
Another translation says, “who, when they have heard the
Word, immediately receive it with gladness and have no root
in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward when
affliction or persecution arises for the word’s sake,
immediately they are offended.” (KJV)
Many people get all excited upon hearing a good message or
when God speaks to them. WOW! This is fantastic. They
eagerly set out to act on what they heard.
In the process of applying corresponding actions to bring the
desired outcome to pass, life happens. Other wounds,
encountered in the past, long ago buried are revealed. New
wounds are made.
Where we were once excited to do the new thing, we are
tempted to stop, to take a prolonged time out or perhaps
throw in the towel.“Ouch, this hurts too much. I’m done. I don’t need this.”
So, we let go of our initial enthusiasm.
Rocky soil contains pebbles or gravel made up of minor

a shovel to start digging a hole, you quickly discover rocks
buried underneath the topsoil and deep in the ground.
Rocks are often formed through taking offense.
